![]() Or maybe I need to use a wired connection (rather than wireless connection) when connecting my packet inspection computer to the router. I'm guessing it may have something to do with the fact that my router is using WPA2 encryption, instead of being unencrypted (like an "open" wireless network). An yes, I'm using the latest NPCap driver installed by the Wireshark installer. Long ago i used to hack WPA2 routers when i started educating on pentesting, I then used the TL-WN721N which i lost over the years. Of course it should support monitor mode + packet injection. And this is despite the fact that I put a tick in the check box for promiscuous mode, for my wi-fi adapter in the Wireshark adapters settings, and made sure to select that adapter as my capture adapter. Hello guys, Im currently looking for the best Wi-Fi adapter with big antennas that the market can offer, The more range/radius it is able to cover, the better. Does not work - so can not set internal wifi adapter (on laptop) in monitor mode. Supposedly you should just select 'Bridged Adapter' in Virtualbox and then when you sudo ifconfig you should see something like'vboxnet0' and then you should be able to airmon as usual. I can't see any communications between the router and another computer (at the ethernet packet level) or between any 2 other computers on my network (at the IP address level). Kali on Virtualbox - set internet wifi adaptor in monitor mode. At the IP address level, I can only see packets with my computer's IP address as either the destination or source address. Next, you need to enter the following command in the terminal window: airmon-ng start vboxnet0 This will enable monitor mode on the vboxnet0 interface. ![]() This is the interface that will be used for monitor mode in Kali Linux. ![]() At the ethernet packet level, I can only see packets between my router and my computer. ifconfig You should see a list of network interfaces appear, one of which will be called vboxnet0.
